I am very pleased to know that Rourkela Gymkhana, a renowned cricket club of Odisha which was established in the year 1986 is setting up a cricket academy at Rourkela to groom and nurture the young talent in both boys & girls category. I have fond memories of playing for the club which has produced many national level cricketers.

Rourkela, the steel city located in the northern part of the state Odisha (formerly Orissa), India, was once the sporting hub of the state, as the first Integrated Steel Plant of the Country, Rourkela Steel Plant, recruited the best of talents in different disciplines from the state and outside to promote sports in a huge way. With this came a big bunch of highly talented cricketers, who formed the bulk of the Orissa Ranji team playing first class cricket.

After 28 years of fruitful existence, we are embarking on a new journey trying to explore new horizons and contribute our might to the great game of cricket. We have envisioned to establish our club as a reputed and renowned club in the State of Odisha, and also to create a positive footprint in the society. After a wonderful journey of 28 years, our club has set its eye on contribution towards society in a bigger way by fledging our horizons wider. Establishing an academy for providing the girls and boys a proper platform for developing their game and community service are some of the ventures that we are undertaking in a big way. I wish our sincere and hardworking team the very best.
